Funny Thing Happened Recently

So the other day I was looking out my window, staring at my boat in my driveway (you know you do it too). And I quickly noticed something was missing. The zinc trim tab on back of my motor was gone. It wasn't corroded away, I mean I trailer my boat. It was just not there any more, after ~15 years. I never noticed it being lose. But now its long gone. I did take my boat on a 1.5 hour drive to cape cod and back. I'm wondering if it fell off on the way with all the road vibration. If it did, I'd hate to be the guy that ran over a big metal trim tab! If it didn't fall off there, I suppose it could be a the bottom of the ocean, or a lake somewhere. Although I feel like it would have to hit the propeller if it fell off in the water, and I surely would feel and hear that. Hmmm.

They will break and they will come off, I lost one 4 or 5 years ago. Did you check to see if the bolt was still there?

When I lose something I always try to remember who I loaned it to that didn't return it.

So I went out today and did some speed cruising. The boat handles perfectly find without that little fin. So I'll probably pick up a totally flat annode instead, next time I'm at west marine. I would buy a cheap one online, but they really don't make it easy to fit these things.
