okay ive got an 1987 eagle 351 bowrider .with an 1987 70 hp vro johnson .had it two months been pluckin away getting it in shape .cannot find any type of fuses or fuse box .any ideas ?????????? its a plain jane boat but it should have some fuses
Being an almost 20 year old boat, it may have a bunch of in-line fuses. Check under the console and I'll bet you find some (and you may even find a fuse panel.) There should also be at least one fuse (probably and in-line) at the battery. That one is the main protection for the entire electrical system except the engine.
thanks for the reply silvertip .im stumped .cannot find any fuses .i looked under the dash ive checked ever y were found one inline fuse that goes to my trolling motor but thats it .kinda scarey .the wiring in the back has been butcherd a bit by the batterys i guess i need to get some inline fuses
I would recommend against a bunch of inline fuses and suggest running a couple of 8 or 10 guage wires (pos & neg - w/pos fused near battery) to your consoul, adding a fuse box there and connecting your accessories to the fuse box.
Something like this near battery, 30 to 80 amp fuse
Something like this under consoul, 12 ckt ATO fuse panel
