I have a gamefisher 15hp 225581508 mechanic went to pull the lower unit to replace the water pump and the shaft will not come out of the power head. He showered the pin off on the lower end just to remove the lower unit. Now I'm stuck with a power head with a shaft sticking out of it that won't come out. The ol motor only has 5 hours on it and this is the first time it's ever been into. If anyone knows anything the help would sure be appropriated!

Does the shaft on the upper end have some sort of roll pin or set scree that holds it into the coupling under the crank or does it just slide out when the lower unit is unbolted

Supposed to just slide out.
Tie the block down so it doesn't move.
Try a big set of vice grips towards the end. .
Tighten them as much as you can and then tighten some more.
Then using a hammer try tapping the vice grips and drive the shaft out as your tapping try wiggling the shaft back and forth.(that's why you tied it down).
Use a torch and heat the coupler on the bottom of the shaft.
You or someone could have hit something and twisted the splines.
Some come out??? Lots don't.

Keep us posted on the progress.

Thank you I'll try that. As for hitting something with the prop, it has the original prop and lower unit on it that not even a scratch is to be found on them. This little motor is showroom quality, it sat in a barn for 3/4 of its life then I ended up with it. I wonder if it couldn't be a manufacturer defect, splines not machined properly or something!? But none the less thank you for the advice, I'll try some different types of pulling methods
