I was givin a '96 gamefisher 9.9. Spent a little money on it to get up and runnign good, but with the prop that is on there I am unable to get to a high running RPM. Not sure what the RPM is with out a tach, but can tell form the sound. Since this engine is a patch work from several companies, would anyone know what prop would fit and help me out. Would like to get a new engine, but this one works and was free. Thanks

Re: Gamefisher ?????

Well to guess, I would say that on average I carry between 300 to 500 pounds in my 14 foot aluminium. No clue who makes it but it is about 5.5 feet wide. When I am on the verge of planing but just cant quit get there. The prop on the 9.9 is the stock I am assuming and get me going about 15 to 20 MPH I would guess. Thanks for the help.

Re: Gamefisher ?????

I have an 7.5HP Gamefisher (AKA Force,,, or Mercury ) outboard on my 14' jon boat carrying 400#+ and it hauls arse. If you are going 15-20MPH you should be planing, how is the boat loaded, where are your heavy items, stern, bow? If everything is in the stern try moving it forward.

Since your user name is coloboat, I assume you are in Colorado, what altitude are you running at? I've found altitude kills the performance of my outboard, 1000' hauls butt, 5000' performance drops off but still planes, 9000' plows through the water and won't plane.

Have you played with the tilt pin? I have a speedo on my fish finder and can drop 3-4MPH with the pin in the wrong position for my setup.
