CJW,

I am not familiar with this engine at all. However, I suspect that when you replaced the lower unit, after the impeller replacement, that the water tube going to the powerhead was not in proper alignmnet.

The impeller (water pump) may be pumping fine, however it can't get the water to where it needs to go.

Where are you getting the mist from?? Have you tested the unit using muffs so you can visually see a water flow? Is the shaft turning the pump?
You might even have a clog in an upper passage ...what is the history of the motor?

Bob

I assume the mist is from the impellor working or trying to Im afraid somthing might be broken internaly (gasket blown?) and presurizing the system overpowering the impellor.I have run the engine with muff,s on and the thermastate off, nothing but hot mist Have blown out upper passages & everything seems to be wide open. I have owned the moter for 5 years and never had a problem

The 9.9 Gamefisher motor is a Force motor. The output from the two holes will never be anything more than spitting or mist. These are exhaust relief holes and not the typical "pee-hole". Force doesn't have one..

My dad bought one of these about the same era and it was a force motor. If you already have not done so, go thru the motor and replace as many zip strip coneections as you can. They are worthless.

From your description, everything is just fine..

One other thing. You will probably find a hole loacted right next to the forward starboard LU bolt. You will find water coming out of this hole as well during operation, but again it is not a "pee-hole" but a drainage hole..

Re: Gamefisher9.9wont pump water(96 modelSears)

ok i TORE EVERYTHING DOWN AGAIN (the engine did overheat at the lake that is what started all this) used air to blow everything out, reassembled,PLACED MOTER IN BARREL TO ENSUREGOOD WATER FLOW I think the way my muffs are constucted and the way my water intake on this moter is that i may have not been getting good flow, I had good water flow but had some water leaking from head gasket & plate that covers exhaust on head when at high RPM some of these bolts were a little loose I removed head gasket to see if there was a problem and everything looks good gasket did not tear so I re assembled ( what do you guys think about reuse of head gasket?)I think everything is OK bot probably will not make it to lake till weekend I really appreciate you guy,s help with this matter , will let you know how it goes

Hey CJW,
You shouldn't try to re-use a head gasket. However, I don't think that Gamefisher has a head gasket. What looks like a "head" is really just a cover for the cooling passages and you can use that gasket again if it looks OK.
Backlash

OK I think I have it figured out I had small trickle of water leaking past head & exhaust plate gasket.... at high RPM the water and heat vaporized inside of cowling, carb sucks all this in engine & it of course tries to die I shut engine down & remove cowling mistakenly see this steam & think it is smoke from engine overheating hate to admit but truly beleive I was on wrong track all along I have ordered new gaskets and will install and test as soon as possible. I really appreciate everyones help !!!

Does a 7.5 gamefisher have a thermastate?I replaced impeller and it was doing same thing
One other thing. (You will probably find a hole loacted right next to the forward starboard LU bolt. You will find water coming out of this hole as well during operation, but again it is not a "pee-hole" but a drainage hole..) It has a hole that water comes out we put a bolt in hole ,should leave it open?A force motor? So if its spiting water its ok as long as its doing that
