Hi all. Got a quandry ...

I recently bought a new boat (actually a less old boat than my present one) and now have a fathometer / fishfinder from each. BTW - they're both monochrome. My quandry is which one to hang onto and which one to sell with the older boat.

The older boat has a Garmin Fishfinder 100 which I've gotten very comfortable with. It's kinda small and a few years old but seems to be working fine.

The newer boat already had a Lowrance X91 installed. I have no idea how old it is or how well it's been cared for. It seems to be woking fine although the water temp reading shows 0.0 all the time. (It worked the first time I ran the boat but not since.)

If anyone is fairly knowledgeable about fishfinders (or not, even) I would appreciate any and all input.

Thanks,
Bob

Re: Garmin vs Lowrance

My experience has been that Garmin is the leader in GPS and Lowrance and Furuno are the best sonars.

So I would keep the X91, learn to use it, and look for a Garmin GPS.

Good luck. :)
