Sorry, not sure if this is the right place for this.

The other day I ran out of gas in one of my tanks. So I switched over to the other tank. has its own line and everything.

I plugged in the connection, primed it, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand nothing. wouldnt start. bulb was solid.

in the end, I ended up dumping the gas into the other tank (and spilling all over the boat) and it fired right up.

so, what is everyones thoughts? My only thought is that the connection is plugged up. but not sure how to clean it out.

Re: Gas delivery issue

It sounds like the gas could not get past the Connection on the end of the second tank's hose.
Was it really connected or did it just look connected. You'll Probably never know!
Unless the valve inside the connector opens, no gas will flow.
You pumped up the fuel hose, but not all the way to the carb, just to the fuel connector.

If you look in the end of the connector you will see a metal ball. Use something blunted and non breakable to push and hold that ball in a little while someone slowly pumps the primer bulb. If everything is OK fuel will squirt out (all over you).

If it has the silver fuel like, that has a inner liner that breaks lose and will plug a line.

Re: Gas delivery issue

Its a black line, with the "ball" type connector. The silver line was the one working.

I did disconnect it and hook it up a few times, so I would think I had it on right. Also, one of the times that I took it off, it spritzed a small amount of fuel out.

I would just prefer not to spend 30 bucks on a new line and everything if I can fix this one. although, Id prefer not to be stranded again....just not sure what to look for.

Re: Gas delivery issue

It is not necessarily the line, it is the connector.
Do both tank connectors look "Exactly" alike?

The Pin on the engine connector may not be pushing the ball in far enough.
Push the ball in with a Phillips Screwdriver, and use the bulb to pump more than a few ounces of gas into a jar.
Any crud coming out? If not, buying a new hose set will be a waste of money.

Did this tank used to work with THIS motor? Or, is this a new pairing?

Post pictures of the business end of Both Tank Connectors and the Engine Connector.
