gas leak on carb mercury 150 1981

[wunderman]

took boat out today it ran terrible no speed . when i got home i took cover off my carbs. 3 dual carbs , i squeezed primer bulb hard and i have gas pouring out the carb.the carb on top is okay the one on the bottom is okay but the carb in the middle pours gas out when i squeeze primer bulb. any ideas? thank you wunderman

It could be just a torn gasket.

Dirty. Gaskets. Needles n seats. Floats. Not necessarilly (sp) in that order..............

rebuilding carb is not something i want to take on. could i try a small gas can with seafoam or compressed air down gas line to bad carb or just regular carb cleaner

You could, but I would really rebuild the carb. Its not hard to do.

Any way you could just take the bowl of the carb off? Lot of the engines I work on have just a single nut holding it on. If it's got a float needle I bet it's not seating properly because there's some some gunk lodged there.

Take 'em off, clean and new gaskets. Once you get into 'em you will see they are tha simplest carb you have ever been into............

if i rebuild carb am i just replacing gaskets

Most of a rebuild kit is gaskets, but once you get the kit you will see that there is not that much to it. Just understand that some kits are made to fit several different carbs and you may have a couple of gaskets left over. Just so you know and don't go crazy trying to find the location of something you really don't have.

took my bad carb off today that was leaking gas so bad and i found a crack in one of the floats i no this is my problem , i went to sierra marine , iboats and they say my part is no longer available . any ideas? part# 7623 1981 mercury v6 150 1981.
