I have included a picture of the problem i have. When i squeeze the bulb to prime the gas and start the motor i noticed after taking the motor cover off that gas wwas leaking slowly from the seam in the picture below. The bulb does get hard and i kept squeezing but correct me if im wrong there shouldn't be gas leaking.
My question is if it needs to be replaced what is this part called on my 98 force motor? Or is there a fix i can do without replacing it?

Well, that is the fuel line connector. If it is leaking at the seam in the plastic and not the hose, then it would need to be replaced. However, before replacing it, try removing the hose clamp and installing an all stainless worm hose clamp. It is possible that the hose is leaking and making it appear that the fitting itself is leaking.

If the fitting is leaking and if you have a permanent tank so you don't need to regularly remove the fuel line, then consider using a 3/8 double barbed brass joiner found at Home Depot or Lowes plumbing supply. This will be much cheaper than the Mercury part.

ill try installing the clamp first but im abotu 99% certain its not from the clamp from what i inspected.

I just want to make sure i understand the 2nd paragraph. Are you saying to remove the fuel line connector OEM part completely then run the hose and barb setup as described?

Man i miss the iboats forum i been to busy with my bike lol, thanks for all your help Frank!

Yup just remove the connector and install a hose barb.Or if the hose is old replace it and just run it through the cowling.
Any inline connectors usually end up leaking after a while.Ethanol is usually the problem.J

The fuel line should be direct from the tank to the primer straight to the fuel pump...no other connections necessary.

I install a filter from Wally World.G2 or G12 depending on hose size. Will stop all those pesky little bits that keep the needle valve from closing.
