I have about 12 gallons of gas/2 stroke oil mix for my outboard, I purchased a new boat late this summer and unfortunately dont forsee me getting my small outboard out this season... Will running that gas/oil mix in my lawnmower, and more importantly my vehicle do any damage??? I can see maybe the mower smoking a little more, but Im afraid of all the sensors in my 2002 durango.... What about putting it in my 97 searay 3.0 Merc? would that burn it without any ill effect?

Thanks

If I cant burn it in the car or searay, I dont see using up 12 gallons before the grass stops growing.... :)

Re: Gas question....

To be on the safe side, don't put the 2 stroke mix in the Durango. Who know's what that little bit of oil could do to the fuel pump, level sensor, fuel injectors or pressure valve.

If the lawn mower is a 4-stroke carb you can probably feed a little bit of the gas at a time into the fuel tank while it's running. I wouldn't dump it all in, because again the oil could really gum up the carb or other bits... Nice and slow and you can get ride of the gas.

Or just save it until next season?

Re: Gas question....

heytown, I've been running my B&S lawnmower on 24:1TCW-3 for about 3 years. Smokes a little, but still runs perfectly. I've changed the spark plug once in that time. This was gas leftover after I sold an old outboard. It was stabilized originally, but not since.

Just use it a gallon or two at a time in your durango. All it will do is lubricate your fuel pump and injectors. Nothing different that using Marvel Mystery oil in your gas!!!! Who know's, it may actually run better!

You could just add some fuel stabilizer to it and save it 'till next season. That's what I do with my leftover gas. I wouldn't be afraid to put a little in my lawnmower or even an old truck with a carb and no computers/sensors. Personally, I wouldn't put it in a new vehicle.

in small amounts it won't hurt your durango at all . maybe 2-3 gallons to a tank.

Re: Gas question....

Are we absolutly sure that oil won't bugger up his electrical sensors? I was always under the impression that oil and electical sensors on vehicles don't mix.

I wonder about the oil plugging the fuel injector nozzle as well...

Edit: It appears that your current lawn mower is a 2-stroke so just stabilize the fuel for winter and continue to use it next summer. There's no sense in wasting it just to get rid of it. I mean if you think about it that 12 gallons of gas is worth about $30USD right now

Thanks for the replies folks....I cant remember but im thinking 1 tank may even be from last year (Im thinking I only had that boat out 1 time this year) sucks to think about...

I forgot I have access to a 73 winnabego with a big ol gas hog in it...Carbuerated of course... I think Im just gonna dump some of it in that before I take it out to my storage place... Thanks again.
