Gas tank issues

well hello folks. I have a 1989 Baja islander 190 3.0. I went to change the tube that goes into the gas tank that draws it to the engine. It got almost out and I guess seized up and snapped. I got a little annoyed and impatient and long story short I’m pretty sure I messed the threads and stuff up trying to get the rest of it out. I’m prob going to need a new fuel tank. So with that being said where are some places I can look to get a gas tank. The dimensions are 27x12x13 18 gallon tank. Thanks

While their are different places to get (buy) tanks, yours may still be salvageable. Maybe rethread the hole then use a bushing. Have any pics?

Another option may be to drill and tap it bigger and use a reducing bushing...

I was thinking it may be salvageable. I was just curious about being bigger than the new piece I bought. I’ll try and get some pics later this evening or tomorrow. I also tried putting a reverse threader to try and back it back out but now that is stuck. But I’ll get some pics soon

I am at a loss for words. Well I managed to get my easy out stuck. It is past the threads and stuck in the tube. I’m limited to what I can do becaue of being around fuel. Mind you is 3/4 full of fuel. I thought this was big enough but apparently not. I do however have the right ones now if I am able to get this out. I tried putting some vise grips on it and giving it some pulls but it is buried in that tube. Has anyone ever see this. Thanks

For the most part I don't want to advise, because this is just to dangerous. The only thing that helps is the easy out is carbon steel (which can spark) but the tank is Aluminum and copper (no spark).

If it were me, I would pump all the fuel out of the tank, then fill it with water. Once filled, the gas will still be on top, but keep a fan going and you could try more vigorous methods, but no electric drills

Ayuh,... Have ya got a couple feet of space, straight up from the easy-out,..??

If so, clamp it Tight with vice-grips, 'n hook a slidehammer to the vice-grips,....
A 4 pounder would probably do it,... I know my 10 pounder would pop it out, so long as the vice-grips hold,....

Not much room. The easy out only sticks out about 2 in. Not a lot of room on top either unless I take the tank out which is prob what I’m going to have to do anyways because I’m going to have to clean it out. A bunch of debri is in there from shavings. When I get it out I will have plenty of room and more options.

Glad I was sitting down when I opened that W/S for tanks and saw the price! WOW! Last tank I bought was for a Ford 9N tractor. $80 plus shipping. I'm with the others; repair it. My 2.

I wouldn't worry to much about the debris, the filter should catch that, only issue which may come is if some gets stuck in the antisiphon valve
