in the spring i installed a new floor in my boat plus new plumbing and wires and yes i test before installing floor but my ? is my gas sending unit said i had a half tank and i thought it was working cuz when the boat was rocking the gauge would move. anyways my boat stalled and did not wanted to start but i knew i had gas so i was going after spark and tune up parts. my friend towed my boat to the ramp and he had stater fluid so i used it and the boat was running so i checked the fuel/water and it had like mud in it so i hooked up a small gas tank and bang no problems lol sorry for the long post but my ? is how can i clean the tank without ripping my new floor up? oh its a 55 gal tank. thanks

Re: gas tank

Lynn,

Did you leave an inspection port for the fuel tank when you replaced the floor? If not call a professional fuel tank cleaner guy. They will remove and filter your fuel, clean your tank and replace the cleaned fuel.

If you can access your sending unit, remove the sending unit and inspect the inside of the tank for the extent of the contamination. If there is little there you might be able to get away with treatments and several filter changes over time. If a lot then call the pros.
