gas to oil ratio

I have a 89 150 force motor i don't know what the fuel to oil ratio is. if somebody can help me out the would be nice. also what brand oil would be best.

I don't how far back it goes but at least to the 70's outboards have a 50 to 1 mix ratio. On a 6 gal tank that is 16oz. You can buy a mixing cup at walmart for a dollar and something. Don't guess. As far as brand there are alot of oil debates in most boating forums. You can read alot of them at pontoon.net and probably here as well. I have used several diff brands and right now I am using walmarts brand and it works fine. Many have said that brands such as walmart and even mercury are all made by the same co or co's depending on who will do it cheaper. some will use only the oem oil while others like me believe that it is pretty much all the same. wh

I ditto the above.
Make sure it is TCW3 rated and you will be fine.
To avoid confusion, I bought the pint bottles when I first got my boat. Then I fill them from a gallon jug, and keep some small ones on the boat. When in doubt, error on the thick side with the oil.
