Hello everyone. Can you tell me what the difference is between a Sierra head gasket and a Mallory head gasket?

Mallory is a division of prestolite. Sierra is a division of Teleflex. neither company makes the gaskets themselves as they buy them and distribute.

however Felpro is a division of Federal Mogul and they are the OEM manufacturer of gaskets for many companies.

Fel-Pro would be good for you.

Re: Gasket Brands-Differance?

Really old larger Chrysler engines had a water tube running down the back of the head and there were water passages cast into the perimeter of the head, around the combustion chamber. The head gasket needed holes cut in it so water could get to the cooling chambers around the combustion chamber.

Later Chrysler and Force engines had a plate on top of the head and no cooling chambers around the cumbustion chamber.

SOME gaskets come with the holes in them and SOME are plain. Either will work on newer Chrysler and Force while ONLY the ones with holes in the perimeter will work with old Chrysler heads.

Most that you see will have the holes in them because it is just not worth reworking the tooling for no benefit.
