where can i purchase rubber gasket material to make new diagraphm for small (1986?)4 hp mariner engine. i do not want to purchase a carb rebuild kit that will cost about as much engine is worth.
Johnnyrude 35s and 40s around 1960 had a rather large diaphragm fuel pump and parts are still available as far as I know. A diaphragm would be cheap and have plenty of material for your needs, maybe enough for two.
thanks for the great suggestions. trent, if you know where i can purchase the kit for $10, please let me know and i will do so. Here is my motor data:model:4m; s#: 6e0- either a 3?or9? - 071785.
I think that'd probably be a Yamaha. Maybe Sierra has a kit cheaper than the OEM stuff. The Japaneese stuff is riddled with tarriffs which accounts for the totally ridiculous prices of OEM parts for those motors. Mariner uses Yamaha replacement parts by contract agreement. Aftermarket parts won't likely be subject to the tarriffs. Wish I could find my Sierra book. I'm betting that's what Trent is eluding to.
willyb, i found sierramarine on the net and am contacting them for their help. thanks.

trent, i still would like the supplier of the $10 carb kit that would have the two diaphragms that i need.
