First...thanks for all your help so far...its amazing the wealth of information on these boards...OK I posted earlier about gear case lube leaking ...thought it was the prop shaft bearing seal...but after further examination I believe it is farther back in the bearing carrier...my question...I think it might be the o ring around carrier..does anyone have any experience...or is there a fairly common cause..ie o ring gasket failure which is common to this gear case..I am going to order the complete gearcase seal kit...should this fix the problem barring any cracks in the metal itself...any input welcome...thanks...Peter

Re: gear case leak

don't know what you have but, what I faound on one of mine was. It had a pin hole through the side of it, I used a deburring tool and ruffed it up clean it verry well and JB welded it. Another one the bearings were just loose enuf (enough) to cause it to leak under way, would presure test and still leak! You may want to post back to your origanal thread, just a thought.

hello
yes the bearing carrier oring will occasionally leak for no apperent reason. its a simple job to remove the carrier clean all the surfaces and reseal the carrier. will be a good time to change the carrier anode as well.
good luck and keep posting
