Turned out to not be a gen II. Thanks for the pictures above because otherwise I might have waisted a bit of money. Anyway the search goes on.

Yeah lol the used one that I went to look at was a gen I. Kind of made me a little mad after driving 45 min to look at it and the guy said it was a gen II ... So glad you put that picture up Don. I printed it out and took it with me just so I didnt make any mistakes. You saved me from a $500.00 mistake. Thanks again. The search continues.

Why don't you just buy a new unit from SEI?!

To be honest I'm trying to budget myself a little bit. Already dumped 4 grand into her a few weeks ago. I know SEI isnt much more than the used one I was looking at but still the difference is enough for me to keep looking at used ones. I mean the boat still runs with the current drive on it now but is not optimal per previous statements. I want to make the boat right as I plan on keeping it for the next 3 years or so. However I am in no rush to change it out. If I mess it up before I find a good used (or find some extra cash) then I will go the SEI route.

That's the point though. For $700, you can get a brand new upper, which changes the gear ratio, and you can reuse the lower if you don't want to go with an entirely new upper/lower. I'd go that route before spending $500 on an unknown outdrive and testing your luck. The extra couple hundred would give me a lot of piece of mind.

True. Maybe I will just wait a few weeks and get the SEI since it does come with a three year waranty. However I will prolly buy the upper and lower for good measure as my lower is starting to show its age. Dosnt hurt to have a spare either.
