Hello all.I have a 1973 Evinrude 115 HP.I have the gear case off to replace my water pump.Upon inspection of the driveshaft where the waterpump seal rides there are two pit marks. They are about the size of the tip of a finepoint Sharpie marker. I would like to repair these before reassembly.I thought about using something like JB weld or Marinetex on them.Anyone ever done something like this?Any thoughts or comments are appreciated. Charlie.

How deep are the pits? I have seen minor pits that caused no problems at all. Since it's your engine and you are doing the work, go ahead and install the pump and see if it works properly, I doubt you will have any problems.
