Re: gel coat shine???

WOW oops,

questions? #1 will the acid hurt the carpet in the boat? #2 can i mix (dilute it with water)? #3 do i need gloves?? i am actually thinking of combining all of the responses, use the acid to clean, then use the 200 rubbing compound, then 800-1000 sand paper then the polishing compoumd then buff it out.

1....yes it will hurt the carpet....the acid wash is just for the outer hull.
2....yes....but dont....let it work full stregnth..
3....yep....allways take every safety precatioun around acid....or boats for that matter.
4.......if you combine the responces....wash it first......then sand it first...then polish then the glaze.

the hull extension thread has all the gellcoat /polishing info you will ever need.....check the index on the first page for the post numbers and pages...

cheers

Re: gel coat shine???

I'm in Canada too oops...wonder if princess auto has them...will look. My red gel top stripe is all mottled and pink..not just chalking but it seems like its right in the gel. I was going to try one more time with abrasives prior to just painting it over. I can't see the glaze product you are referring to in the Feracla line...is it referred to as glaze or something else?

I see the cheaper polishers are a low of 1000 rpm...how critical is it to be below at 800?
