I want to repair a small 1 inch cut/scratch near the U-Hook at the Bow. I did it by clumsily driving the boat up over the winch. Felt like a class idiot. Anyway, I bought the Gel Coat Repair and Matching Kit from Evercoat but I'm afraid to use it without some advice from the folks on this Board.
What I have are abrasions on both sides of the U-Hook plus one little "1 inch" shallow cut that just barely shows the black fiberglass beneath. The depth of the cut is no more than 1/16th of an inch at most, maybe 1/32nd.
I've read the instructions, but I know from experience that advice from others is critical. Can any of you share your experiences or give me advice so I don't make a mess of this area which, in reality, looks quite fine, with what only appears to be cosmetic issues--abrasions and one cut. To give you an idea of what I have involved here, the total amount of gelcoat needed to fill the little cut would amount to no more than a 1/3 of a little piggy fingernail. The rest of the Evercoat kit will be a total waste of money.
I've attached a pic of the damaged area. It's blurry, but you can see it's minor.
Thanks for the help.
