Nothing else is needed, but you'll have a lot of sanding and buffing in your future after spaying the gel coat.

Re: Gelcoat...then what?

spraying would be nice, if i had the equipment. gonna try roll and tip. most of the application is going over sand texture so shiny and smooth isn't the objective. as for the other surfaces, white orange peel will be breathtaking compared to oxidized creamed pea green!

Hey there Scott. Gelcoat is very easy... I roll 'n' rolled. For the future, I'd probably keep all your questions in one thread, it makes it easier to follow :)

Re: Gelcoat...then what?

I may have interpreted something incorrectly on your last post, but I got the impression that you were going to just roll the new gel over the existing nonskid? If this is the case, there are some things to consider: What is the condition of the surface (any cracks, chips, voids, etc)? Also, you'll need to sand the existing surface with some 80 grit (or coarser) and clean/prep for the new gel otherwise it won't bond. Maybe this was understood, maybe it wasn't; but there will be more to it than simply rolling the new stuff on :) Personally I would like to see some pics of what you're working with....

totally agreed on the above.....what are you rollling on?........if you are rolling on oxidized old gell......the surface must be prepped.......or....it will all break off......your job is only as good as the bond to the substraight

Re: Gelcoat...then what?

Pros,
I'm pretty sure from his other thread he's talking about gelling the floor...
also expanding on my response to your OP, gelcoat is very durable... no need for sealer or glear coat. I had poor results trying to put a clear coat on my existing gel and I prepped it will and I gave up realizing it was unecessary
