Gelcoat work

I just found out that it will cost me about $300 dollars to have someone fill the red metalflake "triangles" on my boat's bow deck to match the white gelcoat on the rest of the boat. That's too much money, so I'm thinking of doing it myself. What is the procedure for doing this work? A picture that sort of shows what I'm talking about when I say "triangles." is here:

I'd post the pic here if I knew how. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Gelcoat work

YD,
Well, I like the metalflake, but it's toast; the gelcoat on it is all but gone, AND there's 2" dia. hole in one of the "triangles" for a fuel fill that I'm going to eliminate. There is no way to make the red metalflake match when filling the hole. Best thing to do is to white gel over the metalflake; at least that way it will match, Or.... PAINT over it... getting the white to match is going to be problematic if I paint it I think. Other thoughts?

Well..im asking because 300 bucks isnt bad to get rid of your red metalflake badness..

I would not paint..just mebbe do a red gel or blue..or green..or whatever matches..but gellin for 300 is not bad at all..

its basically 10 hours at 30 bucks an hour..including materials ? .. hmm..ill hire that guy :)

YD,
I agree, $300 isn't bad, but I don't have the money! Just by way of example, I have the tools to paint the boat. For $300 I could paint the entire boat (not that I WANT to do that, just by way of comparison). I've all but decided not to to gelcoat. I might just leave it alone for awhile. Thanks for the ideas!
