No I haven't but for a 14' alum boat, you'd be hard pressed to make a big mistake I'd think. Probably the biggest mistake would be the size of the water you plan to boat on; getting too small a boat. A good visual inspection and "kicking the tires" so to speak should provide you with the answers you need. 20" transoms are superior to 15" (helps to keep the water from coming in on you from the rear when you shut her down), but usually hard to find in smaller boats. The engine mid section has to match the boat so a 15" transom requires an engine with a 15" mid section.
One thing to keep in mind and that is width; the wider the more stable which allows you to move around in the boat (as one usually does) without worrying about capsizing, and also the higher sides work better if you are on water that can get windy (waves).
