Re: getting a shock at gearshifter

so what you are saying is, switch the coil wires (black and white wire)

and i am just going to shrink rap and tape up the brown wire.

this is a boat i am storing up north at a cottage, and will be using for 1 week of the year.
If leaving it this way will damage anything, i would invest in new wires but otherwise i would leave it.

I may be confused but somewhere I thought that you said the coil wires were reversed white or grn to grd and blk to power, as long as blk is to grd and what ever color grn or white to power the color don't matter as long as it's the power wire to the coil. Sometimes I can even be confusing to myself. Sorry--Bob

Re: getting a shock at gearshifter

no need to apoligize to me you have been great help. I have a white and black wire coming from the coil. I have now connected the black to the ground screw on the switch box, and and white to the power on the switch box. I am hoping the white is power, as it runs fine either way, as you explained with great detail in an earlier post why.
Is there any way to test for sure which wire coming from the coil is power?, like just using a test light?
