Gheenoe Questions?

I see a lot of mentions of these boats here on iboats. There isn't even a dealer up here in MN, but I did go to the maker's website.

My question is: What is the attraction of these narrow boats? What is the reason Gheenoe users choose them over, say, an small aluminum boat for about the same price?

I'm just curious, since I've never actually seen one in use and don't know anyone who has one.

So, if you're a Gheenoe owner, please tell me (and us) what it is that made you select that design for your boating.

Re: Gheenoe Questions?

Gheenoes are specialized boats. Bayou fishermen love them.

Swamps and small rivers that rarely, if ever, get vertical. Great skinnywater boats and heavy vegetation boats

Being narrow makes them among the most efficient displacement hulls there are. . .as good as a canoe. They are light, maneuverable and can be powered effectively by small, economical engines.

They also are very stable compared to comparable sized aluminum boats.

They fly with a small outboard, I have a freind with a 15 footer and with a 9.9 it scoots right along. Quieter than an aluminum boat and to me not that much heavier. Wider in the center too.
