Well confirmed that I still had the zerk fitting for the gimbal bearing. So went ahead and ordered the 8206 kit and the shift cable. Looks like everything will be here next thursday so hopefully It goes smooth and i can be back out on the water the following weekend!

I just did mine on a Bravo 3.
The Gimbal bearing was pretty firmly in there, and broke 2 three jaw pullers. Sheared off the teeth. I bought the $100 puller that is threaded and fits across the housing to pull against, and it came right out. I used a sealed bearing.
An alignment bar was $33 shipped to the house. Far better quality than I expected.
A Bravo drive isn't the lightest thing in the world to put back on by yourself, but doable.

I read a lot of the stories like that. My last one was on my bravo 1 and it came out just as easy as my 1983 bearing before.

I haven't been on in a while but the "free Loaner" tools are at Advanced Auto Parts. Ask for the "Professional" puller and it comes with the absolute correct fitting to get it out. Just thought I'd post this info for the next DIYer......came out in a few miutes.
