gimbal ring interchanability

My ring on my alpha drive is worns out at the lower pin. It is a 88 alpha one.

I am visiting my family and my dad happens to have all sorts of boat parts including a gimbal ring from a 67 mercruiser.

I know his is pre alpha, but was wondering if they interchange?

The gimbal rings do not ware out at the lower pin (I don't think), the bearing may. #2 here: http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...&bnbr=50&bdesc=GIMBAL+RING+AND+STEERING+LEVER 88 is probably a roller bearing, the easy part is replacing the bearing, the hard part is getting the ring off. Thanks for pointing that out. I will have to look into that and see if that's the only issue I and havinng.

I don't know why I never looked at that part of the book before.
