Gimble question

This seems like a dumb question. I have a 1994 Monterey 206. I changed out the gimble bearing. It was the first time I've ever done this. I thought it was seated. It's straight. There is about a 1/4 " behind it between the bearing and the seal. I want to know is this right or does it need to go in further. Thanks in advance. 👍

when seating the bearing depending on the tool used it goes from a soft thunk to a hard thud when seated and the gap behind the bearing is normal .

Thanks. That's what made me think it was in all the way. I was just concerned with the space behind it. 👍😁
