Recently purchased a Glastron from 2000. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to boats, as this is my first and looking to get it ready for the water here in Ontario. The boat by serial number says it's a 2000. But the Mercruiser seems to be an Alpha 1 pre-gen 2. How can this be possible since they stopped production in 1990.

Unfortunately not at the moment. Boat is up at the cottage, and this is really the only picture I have of it.

If you see 2 nuts and bolts on each side , its a GEN II
If you see 2 nuts in a recessed area ,one on each side , and 2 nuts recessed under the cavitation plate its an Alpha

Unless I missed something we were talking about the drive.
The motor could be 2000 ish or some other year. The drive and motor are separate.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Something is suspicious,... Motors, 'n drives are usually within a year, maybe 2 tops, from the hull vintage,.....

To swap from an Alpha, Gen.II to an Alpha 1, the transom assembly would have to be changed too,.....
or at a minimum the gimbal housin',...

That's what I was thinking too. Any way to check what exactly is going on?

Ayuh,.... A picture down lower from the side would help Me,....

BD says it's an Alpha 1,....

There's sometimes a serial number stamped under the decal, top aft, portside of the drive,....

Except for buyin' parts, it won't matter either way,....
Much is the same, basically the shift linkages are different,....

The drive is definitely an Alpha One. How about pictures of the engine and any numbers.

Will take some pics and some numbers this weekend when i go back up to the cottage. It's wierd that the counter only says 86 hours on the engine...

Crispy, please dont start multiple topics in multiple forums about the same subject

This isn't Glastron related, so that topic has been merged into this one in the Mercruiser forum

Sorry, realized it was the wrong forum after I initially posted under Glastron.
