Finally got the deck in
Question everyone.....
I have 74sq feet to cover with 2 layers of csm
What would be a safe amount of resin to have on hand?
I have 8 gallons will that be enough?

On the cap from a bimmini top
Can i just grind down the gelcoat a little and fill it in with thickened resin (PB)?

If they are screw holes, I open them up with a fluted countersink bit, then fill with Bondo short strand filler, leaving 1/8" shy of the finish surface. I lightly sand when set up to remove any wax then apply gel coat with a putty knife flush with the surface. Really quick and easy.

So in the meantime
I cut some bulkheads for the boat built the flotation boxes and started on the cap

Got the holes on the cap filled in I also filled in the hole for the gas neck (Im going to use portable tanks) I also filled in the holes where the grab rails in the bow rider went into They were missing when i got the hull So i bought some universal grab rails

Well i got the cap all done
Alot of sanding and 3 coats of epoxy primer

When going over the top SN edges of plywood it's best to relax the CSM by pulling and tugging th fibers You'll hear it and see it release this greatly aids in it making the bends wear gloves and use your hands to make it conform

And i just got the flotation boxes glued in
Hopefully i can filet them and tab them in today also

I need some help from the pros again...
There were holes and a large crack in the transom i put tape on the outside of the hull to cover the holes then filled the holes from the inside with PB and put csm over the small holes and 1708 over the large crack on the bottom
Now what do i do on the outside of the hull?
Grind it a little and put csm then fair it smooth?

All the holes on my Chap I filled with thickened resin with 1/4" chop strands added. I ground the gelcoat a bit wider than the original hole, then gel coated over the hole using a putty knife to level the final coat. I feathered the repair area with sandpaper from 220 to 2000 grit.

Looking at your transom the gelcoat looks pretty cracked up. Might be best to rough the gel coat up and go over it with CSM like you said.

With just a light grinding....or do i hsve to grind past the gel coat to the fiberglass

Just light sanding to expose new material, and roughen the surface. No need to grind it all off in my opinion.

Can i use 1708 on the outside of my hull
On a spot i grinded through or would csm be a better choice
Its where the transom and the hull bottom meet
I was thinking for strength the 1708 would be a better choice

Ouch. I would use 1708 on the inside in several layers. Perhaps some pictures may help others chime in?

Did you completely grind through the hull, or just the gelcoat? In your first post about this I was under the impression it was a hole or slice, hence repairing from the inside.

Yes i repaired it from the inside
But on the outside you can see where the old fiberglass ends and where the pb is
I was under the impression that i need 1708 or csm to put over where the grind through was
