Well, looks like the story might be a bit overblown, if not an actual scam.

Bacon shortage NOT imminent?

The Fareway ad this week has bulk bacon at $2.99 per pound. I was thinking maybe of loading up and doing some hoarding. Heck, might anyway at 2.99/lb.

There's actually some interesting information in the slate article about bacon. What the British call bacon, we call Canadian bacon and Canadians call back bacon. What we eat in the US is called "streaky bacon." Anyway, bacon is probably going to cost more next year due to the effect of the drought on the corn supply, but it's not clear there will be any shortage.

I've seen bacon here up to 7 bucks a pound. I get it from the butcher in brown wrap for 3.99lb. I love bacon. I really hope it doesn't get anymore expensive. Oh, and by the way, no more joking about beer shortage. I almost had a stroke here.:facepalm::facepalm:

Bacon is bacon. Canadian bacon is Canadian bacon. I can't imagine how much Canadian bacon would be. Probably cheaper to get a second mortgage.

going hunting this mornig,maybe i will have to stock up on grouse bacon!its only about 152.33 a lb.lol.what a beautiful day to go for a bike ride up here.

Kinda sad that the price of feed is as high as it is at this time, mindya next year there could be a excess and the price goes down.
