It won't be a vacuum issue.<br /><br />The most faults in the system is ground and connection faults.

Enjoyable reading here, you said Key out, headlights on, didn't get to test vaccum,,,,,never mind, I'll quit while I'm behind....<br /><br />I agree with BubbaKat, I think it is a sensor!

The fact that the warning light flickers at idle could be pointing to low voltage - bad ground. This could be at the sensor or the light itself. If it is a problem at the sensor, as SBN first said (we will ignore the other comments so as not to get LF more hostile) if in a collision the airbag MAY NOT deploy. But then again, it may. If the problem is at the light, it will not effect the workings of the airbag. So, if she wants safety, get it looked at. If she doesn't want to spend money on the old clunker, forget about it.
