Tomorrow I am going to look at a boat that I plan on using to go fishing on inland lakes and the nearby Saginaw Bay (Lake Huron). I haven't seen the boat yet I am hoping that the sides are as deep as I think.
He is selling the boat w/trailer and 25 HP johnson (original 60 hp he put on his pontoon going to use the 25 hp for my river boat) for $500. So I am guessing that it will probably need at least a new floor and seats. So my question is, is there anything that I should really keep my eye out for when looking?

Also if I buy the boat and if it needs seats and floor I was planning on building boxes for the seats out of marine plywood covered in carpet and using the seats from my river boat that have removal pedestals that can sit flush w/o extension rod. Also I was wondering since I already have some deck boards is that a bad idea for the floor? I wouldn't carpet them.

I'm trying to get the boat in the water as quick as I can then I can worry about cosmetics over the winter.

I just put together and got running a 1975 75 HP Evinrude. Going to buy Minn Kota quick realease mounts and mount them on my river boat and the Starcraft so I don't need to buy another trolling motor and I can use my Merc 9.9 as a kicker. I Already have seats I can use from my river boat and I can use deck boards for the floor (unless it's a bad idea) which I already have.

Any comments or advise would be great. Thanks!

Oh boy...... asking a whole group of Startcraft owners and addicts is you should get one  Based on your post..... you will be buying the boat. You already have plans.

Most of us would say to go with plywood for the deck.

Aluminum Starcrafts are great, light and easy to maintain.

Good Luck.

Ok, I am going to look at it in 15min If I buy I'll shoot some pictures of it and post them. Then I will do as everyone else did on here and keep track of any restoration that may be needed.

Thanks for your responses
