Ok, well I bought my mother this for Christmas. I had no idea where to get one new and it says in the auction works perfect, so used shouldn't be an issue. It says make sure you have the right remote because all sales are final.

I don't think I've left feedback yet. I can hang the threat of a negative feedback over his head and see if he bites, I guess.

Well, after checking it on the CD player and with a camera with an infared lens, the remote doesn't work.

What are my options?

I've contacted the seller with no response as of yet.

If it doesn't work with your player, then it's your fault. If it doesn't work PERIOD, then it's his fault. Complain to PayPal and ebay. If you used a credit/debit card to fund the payment complain to your CC company too.

Z, it appears using the camera that can see the light emitted by a remote that this remote is indeed dead, its not the CD player.

I'll keep you up to date on this.

I would contact him first, if no satisfaction, then the steps that Z listed are in order! Good Luck

I haven't heard of the infra red camera trick. Is it foolproof? TV repair shops have gadgets that test those. You might find one willing to try for you. All they do is point and push a button. I wouldn't leave a negative feedback for any item under $20 because the negative feedback you get in return is far more damaging than losing twenty bucks. Contact Seller is vital before leaving any negative feedback. Also, check the batteries. It's not impossible to have a defective brand new battery.

Yea, willy it pretty much is foolproof. I stumbled upon it by accident. I was looking around the room one evening with my camera in nightshot mode and my sister went to flip the tv channel and I saw the light emitted from the remote! It was so cool!

My uncle, who repairs electronics, got it up and running again. It appears it was a loose connection between the battery and the board. I checked it with my camera and it lights up beautifully.

I'll let him reply and tell him we got it working. Unfortunately it was so hard to get the case apart we kinda tore it up, but its ok. Its working and my mom is happy.

I checked it on the CD player and it works beautifully.

Maybe he'll send a few bucks back (but I wouldn't count on it).

I bought a downrigger a few years back, and when I went to use it, parts of the plastic just fell apart. I emailed the seller and they sent half the money back, I thought that was fair. I didn't even ask for any money back, I understand the risks. I just wanted to let him know so he can be more thorough in checking the stuff he sells. I was win win.

Glad it was an easy fix. those are my favorites...
