Hey Guys<br /><br />Looking to install a GPS do I just need to splice to a ground and hot lead. is the ground any black wire or do I need to test some how.<br /><br />Thanks <br />COOl It

You should have a common power board somewhere to tie into. Use an inline fuse. You can wire it "hot" so its not affected by the key on or off. Black should be ground, but get a test light and be sure. Good luck and by the way, I'm not an expert :D but I did hook up my GPS.

I cut the car adapter plug off my power wire to my gps and connected the wires to my fuse panel...works great.<br /><br />-JustMrWill

thanks - found thepower board very easy to grab a ground and plenty of hot accessory ports available. what size fuse should I use?? or will the instructions tell me that. Didnt pick up unit yet- its on order

The fuse size should be listed in your GPS manual. You must use the right size as otherwise, if the equipment shorts out, it could cause a fire! Use a "fast blow" fuse which thankfully, is the most common type.<br /><br />If you know the model number and make of the GPS you bought, go to their website and see the if the manual is there. If so, download it and do a quick search for "fuse". Read the rest of the instructions so when the unit comes, you are ready to go!<br /><br />Amir
