There were a few fancy cars ridding round Pass-a-Grille beach to. Funny how much you can make if you catch the right "money fish". There is an old Chinese curse " may you live in interesting times". And they were, lived in Pass-a-Grille from 57 to 70. Good time to leave, but boy sure saw some money pissed away so fast.....lol. we had a TR-3A as well back then so there ya go. Oh and while I live in canada now, I don't shot holes in my freezer, and ride my sled when I'm getting cabin fever.....cheers

Using the heavier oils hastens the camshaft wear on the left head (drivers side). This is especially critical on a vehicle that sits and/or is shut off and started numerous times per day. Not so much so on one that goes up and down the highway all day.

Remember, this is an overhead cam engine.

I've also seen cheapo (to remain nameless) filters come apart and take out the left head by blocking the oil passages.

The Motorcraft 5W-20 is a synthetic "blend". Not 100% syn.

Haven't used the Pennzoil full synthetic. Use Mobil 1 in my Mercedes.

The last vehicle I had that ever used petrolubes was a '95 Ford Windstar. When I switched to the Mobil 1 fuel mileage improved 2mpg and change intervals went from 3K to 5K miles.

I assume that you mean the Mercury Grand Marquis.

If Mercury says to use 5-30, use 5-30.
J B is Mobil 1 a full synthetic and what weight do you use in your car?

Would you recommend Mobil 1 over Pennzoil ?

I'm not JB but I play him on TV.;)

Mobil 1 is FULL synthetic.

There are not any bad oils out there today that carry well known brand names.

Stay with the viscosity ratings that your engine calls for. The Engineers that designed it and built it know more about it that we do.

Why is that so hard for so many to swallow?

I use 5-30 in my MLs.

I would choose Mobil 1 over Pennzoil for 2 reasons:

1. That is what Mercedes Benz uses and recommends.

2. I have put around 400,000 miles on vehicles using Mobil 1 and never had an oil issue. I have zero experience using Pennzoil.

I have nothing negative to say about Pennzoil. I just tend to stick with what I know works.
