Had a phone call at work Grandpa (who got me into boating) had the ambulance called. Sever pain in shoulder and arm. Emt thought either dislocated or fracture. Will know more after xrays. At 92the every moment I have with him is a blessing.

Sorry to hear this Kohrah... Hope everything turns out the best it can (prayer sent for grandpa).

My grandmother just turned 90, and has more gumption than most people half her age, even with a heart condition, and a previous stroke. I too share same sentiments about the time you have with elderly loved ones.

The xrays didn't show any damage to the bones or the shoulder. They found fluid on his right side lung and the kidneys are starting to shut down. i remained strong in front of the family, but i'm now sitting alone in my apartment balling my eyes out. Now i'm just waiting for my cell phone to ring with the message that i'm expecting and dreading all at the same time.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers but I know at this point I've seen it far too much I know there's no rebounding for him from this. If he does by some miracle pull through this I will be exteremly happy.

I'm sorry about my spelling and puncuation but honestly i just don't care right now about that.

My family sends out thoughts and prayers in the hope that grandpa gets better and to comfort you in your time of need. I understand how you feel having lost all of mine including parents in years past. I do hope all turns out for the good.

Just a few years ago I did the exact same thing after a visit that I was pretty sure was my last. It's good and right to do so, by the way - you're fortunate that he was so important to you. Few grandkids take the time to enjoy the relationship that way any longer.

We'll be praying for his recovery, and for you and your family.

Both of my parents and all four of my grandparents are gone....

I'll never forget seeing my maternal grandmother for the last time. I'd moved away for college but was back for a visit. She was in a nursing home dying of congestive heart failure at the age of 89. When I got ready to leave she said goodbye, we both knew it would be the last time we would ever see each other. I'll never forget the look on the nurse's faces as I walked down the hall with tears streaming down my face.

It's a very tough deal but it's all about the memories. They are a constant flow that will be with you for the rest of your life. And will bring many smiles to your face.

Sorry to hear that. Tell him all of the boaters are pulling for him.

My grandfather got me into boating too. He lived on a saltwater pond in the state of Rhode Island. Growing up there in the 50s and 60s was pure magic. When I think of it, I always think of the movie "Summer of 42."

Grandfathers are very, very special and I know its hard to watch him go through this, so we're thinking of you too.

Thanks for all your thoughts. Things are status quo. He hasn't gotten any better with meds but hasn't gotten any worsse
He is a fighter ill admit that. Made it through a tour in the pacific theater ofWWII. So hopefully that fighter is still there.

Grandpa is doing better . Doctors gave him massive dose of meds to fight off pneumonia. His color is 100% better and hearing is back. Considering what he looked like 2 days ago I thought it was the end. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. He should be able to come home Monday.

Edit after thinking about it more moat hopes that is all that was wrong but there is the small part that wonders if this is the last hoorah.

Just got to this thread ... praying for you and for your grandpa. It was my dad that got my maternal grandpa into boating, and his boat became my first boat when he passed. Grandpas are special.

Been a bot since I've posted an update here. Grandpa was suppose to come home today from hospital. Yesterday doctor ran last set of tests and discovered his kidneys had completely shutdown. We've made the decision to pull antibiotics and other life support. It was a hard choice but he had no quality of life. Were now waiting for the final spark of life to wink out.
