Uh, oh. My 1987 Forcer 125 hp is getting so old the aluminum is soft in places. I tried to lube the king pin
( # 37 here: http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Merc2/Force/125 H.P. (1987)/1251X7B/MOTOR LEG/parts.html)

And the grease fitting popped out of the bracket. Actually, two have done that?

Is there a way to "dress" that hole and put in the next bigger size fitting?

Can I clean up the whole and put the fitting back in with good ol' J. B. Weld?

Re: Grease fitting popped out

Ive done the same exact thing. I bought some press-in zerk fittings (grease fitting) at napa and drilled it accordingly, then press them in..no problems yet. It is best to have the screw in type zerk fitting imo..Just depends whether or not you have the space to tap a new hole.

I JB'd mine back in after cleaning out the hole w/ brake cleaner. Three months later, it's still in there.

I did the same on just about every zerk fitting on my 125! Sure I replaced some of them with new zerks but the problem persists! So the proper fix come to find out is to use the right grease gun adapter!
