Grease Gun Problem

I have a few inches of grease behind the plunger in my grease gun. I can't get a new tube of grease in until I remove it. How can I do that? I thought about heating it up but was worried that it might be flammable. Any ideas?

Might try putting it in a vise ( lightly) and pullin back on the handle on the plunger till you get to the slot in the plunger arm - you can exert a lot more force that way. And yes, it most likely is flammable, so if you are gonna heat it , at least use the sun for a while.

If that does not work, go with Bruces idea- messy, but it works!

Just open the handle and put your foot against it and pull the plunger T-hand back all the way and move it into the slot and unscrew the head and pull out the cartridge. I f the cartridge doesn't come out by hand just push in the open end side of it and use needle nose plyers to pull it out.

Ayuh,... The grease behind the plunger will come out the slot as you pull the plunger back...

Pour some degreaser in the gun, let it set for a while. If that doesn't work, buy a new grease gun that unscrews.

The end of the grease gun with the plunger doesn't unscrew. I'd have done that if I could have. I've pulled the plunger back as far as I could and the grease did come out of the slot as suggested. There's still an inch or two of grease in there though. Hmmm, maybe if I just let it lay out and get nice and hot, it will loosen up the grease that's left. I'll try that. Thanks. M.

If that doesn't work, buy a new grease gun that unscrews.

That would be my fix too now that I found out what kind of grease gun you have. Buy a good one this time!
