I've just run out of grease in the gun. I can run to the store but that's a 3 hour drive. In the garage, I have:

1. squeeze tube of Super White Lithium Grease. Claims excellent water resistance.
2. Red "N" Tacky #2 for the gun

The only thing I use my grease gun for is the boat and boat trailer. Current project is installing the outdrive. I only need to lube things up and install .... Will either of these greases do the job?

I switched over to Quicksilver High Performance Extreme Grease a couple years ago, mainly for my own peace of mind. According to Merc, it's "approved" for just about everything related to an outdrive. A little pricey, but one tube lasts me a couple of seasons.

use the red-n-tacky from what you have and put it in your grease gun.

lithium grease is soap based grease. its for lubing the door latches and hood latches on your car.

Ayuh,..... I use plain ole chassis grease, bought by the case at my local Napa, for everything but those Special spots that get 2-4-C,.....

I use Pennzoil syn. for my gimbal bearing, Merc's. 24C for the gimbal hinge pins and bell hsg. shift linkage. I'm a firm believer in using Merc's spline coupler grease. If you can find an equivalent EP grease, it may be ok, but I don't want to risk a new engine coupler and yoke shaft. I helped a friend change his. Very ugly and expensive.

Take your pic I would probably use the red and tacky.

I use Johnson EP wheel bearing grease on most of the boat. My only gripe is that it separates and drips at times.

I would check compatability just to make sure you are not going to regret it down the road.

I use the green marine grease for everything boat related, except the coupler splines, they get spline grease.

From your choices, I'd use the red grease. I use that on vehicles.
