Grooved cam follower roller on 18 hp 1965 fastwin

The roller is groove and I wonder if this is common with evinrudes? Also would like to know how it could effect engine performance . Seems it could be inverted to change groove locations.?

The deeper the groove the more out of time your ignition and carb will be. Its common for any two surfaces rubbing against each other to wear out.

You can invert it or just replace the roller and not have to worry about it anymore...chances are you won't need to replace it again for a long time.
