Grounding question

My motor runs ok on the muffs but not in the water (it will die after idling for 5 seconds). I checked compression and all is good. I tested spark and it could be better. I suspect the grounding to be bad. My question is can bad grounding cause the motor to run on the muffs but not in the water? Will bad grounding cause a weak spark?

Thanks,

Matt

Re: Grounding question

most of the time not running in the water is due to the idle too low. The back pressure from the exhaust will cause the idle to need to by higher. It should idle about 6-700 rpms in the water.

Re: Grounding question

Grounding will not cause your problem.

Most likely cause is a need for, or an improperly done, link "n" synch.

Re: Grounding question

I'm reving 1700 in the drive way at idle. So my idle is set to high, will that cause my motor to die in the water and not in the driveway?
