GT-150 plus a few gel coat questions

I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that makes any kind of Glastron Gt-150 replacement interior parts.



Also, the boat has a few nicks that are through the gel coat and I can see fiberglass hairs, I am new to boats and trying to decide the best route to repair these. Epoxy or a fiberglass repair kit?



Also, there are two spiderweb cracks on the top of the boat, none seem to be anything but cosmestic issues. Is there a way to repair or reduce the appearance of these, would wet sanding help or any other ideas?

Grind out the chips to good glass w/ 80 grit disk, feather the edges out, apply a mat patch with poly resin ( no wax) , leave it negative, apply gel thickened with talc(cover w/ plastic mylar), let it go off, grind it down slightly negative again and apply fresh gelcoat, sand that w/ progressive finer sanding block to a finish. The number I have read is 2000 grit for the final sand. It should be invisible by that point.

spider cracks , insert a suitable tip in a dremel and follow each crack, boring it out, the tool looks like a tiny end mill, try either ball end mill or pointed pear shape. 1/8th inch should be ok.
Fill crack , now a small channel with gel, cover with plastic to cure the gel and sand to finish.

I feel I have a much easier better way, fix the chips but ignore the cracks.

Yep I'm probably just gonna leave the spider cracks alone, they are on the top of the boat and really arent that bad. What is talc? Also, any reccomendation on certain products for fixing the chips? If the chips are small, like the largest one is a little smaller than a dime do I need to use a patch or would a type of exposy or fiberglass reinforced filler be fine?

cabosil is probably better for your use, silica powder from any resin supply shop. It stops the resin from running, especially usefull on vertical surfaces.

For smaller chips you can chop some glass mat with scissors and mix it into your resin in a cup, if you find the resin running out of the chopped strand putty add a bit of cabosil to make it more like a gel.

Having restored a GT150 I.E. Cap off, new seacast stern composite stringers and closed cell foam below high density foam floor. You never never never mix epoxy with fiberglass!!!!!!! It will not work. As for spider-webs your local fiberglas or paint store should be able to color match your gel-coat by computer! same with all gel-coat repairs. make sure you always grind to fresh glass and tack wipe with acetone. Sorry I'm still learning computer! Having restored a GT150 recently, never mix fiberglass with epoxy!!!!!! as for gel-coat cracks grind to fresh material. And have your supplier color match gel-coat by computer with a chip so as to allow for fading ! Hope this helps, Boatman Brown
