Guns again

Today I finally replaced a Glock (which was stolen) with a new one. I feel real comfortable with the model 23 and I had all the accessories for it already. So I have moved up to the latest generation 3 which has some nice improvements.

While I was at the gun shop I carried in a snub nose that I no longer had a need for and decided to do a bit of trading. I walked out with a new Kel Tec P9 9mm.... first 9mm I have ever owned but I figured it would be a good pocket gun due to it's size It's single stack mag and fits in my hand nicely....... now the trouble and how I got out of it.....

When the wife came home I showed off my new Glock and then she saw the 9mm on the table...... What's that gun???? :redface: Well........ when I saw it I was thinking how nice it would fit your hands...........

It worked!!! The wife has a new Kel Tec P9 but I got my Glock !!!

Oh you are good. My wife ( 5' 2") will grab the 9mm Browning before the .357, but loves my (used to be mine) Beretta .25

Bravo, Bob. But-
My wife HATES to shoot my Kel-Tec (P11) because of its felt recoil; she can't hit the target at 20 feet. Make sure yours is comfy with it.

OTOH, wifey loves to shoot our old Colt Trooper (.357M) because it's mass makes it easier for her to handle. The 6" barrel helps, too.....it's certainly not a carry weapon, but is a pretty good home defense gun for her.

Bob, check out the latest pistols the military will be using. I bought a new 24/7 a couple of weeks ago in .45 acp. What a nice gun. This weapon also just recently set the speed shooting record. I bought mine at a gun show for $309.00. Also saw them at a sporting goods store for $349.00.

I am old school..... my 45 acp of choice is my Colt Gold Cup..... I have considered others but I will not let mine go. There are alot of nice new guns out there.

Yea, I also have a 1911, but there is no comparison to the new one.

i shoot a combat commander
and para ordinance 40
but my back up believe it or not is a old browning officers auto in 380 acp


every thing is shaved and its very comfortable
but it doesnt like non ball type ammo
im a favorite of the colts and others the glock is a fine weapon
but im a metal man . eventhough the many hours with the beretta
should have learned me sumpin /i love the brown in snakeskin 45 acp
also some of the keltecs are comfortable i try to stay away from the tactical stuff when not working in less than disirable 3rd world crap

Yes I intend to teach Jenn to use a pistol. I am going to start her on the new 9mm first. I do not want to start her on a .22 or the 9mm might seem like too much.

I had a Glock 9mm once and really liked it. Then circumstances forced me to sell it. A few years ago I was looking for a new weapon and decided that I wanted something larger after being shipboard Navy and finding out just what and how much a 9mm would penetrate. I shopped around and ended up with a Springfield Armory XD40 and I absolutely love it. In my opinion it is a much better gun than either Glock or Beretta (worked on those as a Duty Gunners Mate on the boat and I really don't like them anymore). I like the grip safety and I love the crisper trigger. The Glock trigger always felt a little spongy, but didn't really understand it until I started learning how to really work on guns from a friend who is a gunsmith. That is when 2+2 equalled 4 to me. Of course I also liked the fact that it was about a $100 less than a comparable Glock. I think no matter what your preference is it must work for you not against you. If you go to point it and it does fairly closely feel like and extension of your arm then it is the wrong weapon for you. I am also a big believer in receiving instruction on the safe and proper use, storage and maintenance of your weapon and above all lots and lots of range time for practice. I am firmly convinced that the single best safety is the one between our ears and if you don't use it you will get hurt. Of course these are just my opinions learned from my experience.

I was talking to a local deputy this AM over coffee and he was telling me that all deputies carry Glock 22's. Detectives carry Glock 23's because they're a little smaller. I know nothing about auto-loaders, but aren't there any domestic gun manufacturers that make a decent auto-loader? Do even our local LEO organizations have to go foreign?

I love my XD, too. It's a very well built weapon.
