Halon Fire Extinguisher system

One of the two wires going to the halon bottle inside my engine box (460 omc king cobra i/o) has fallen off. As fate would have it I can't locate the other end to splice together and I can't find this in my manual. Any ideas about where these two wires go? Power lead and ground?<br /><br />thanks,Pat

The wires should go to an indicator light on the helm. Its to let you know if the system is operatable.

They could also go to a switch on the dash to activate the system in case of fire. Are the wires connected to a solenoid valve or pressure switch?

There is no indicator anywhere for this system. I don't see a solenoid it looks more like a conventional sprinkler system fixture on top of the halon bottle. The bottle is strapped to the inside of the engine enclosure.<br />thanks again,<br />Pat

It sounds like a self contained automatic system. Is it possible that the wires were never hooked to anything?

It is a pressure switch for a status light. I added a Halon system to my boat and did not want/care about that function. The system will function fine without the switch being connected to a thing.

We have a Halon system in the comp. room at work and it takes the oxagen out if a fire occurs how would this system work in a open air space,engine room should have vents

It would work fine as both gas fumes and halon gas are both heavier than air. Halon is great because it wont hurt your engine if it is injested. Dry chem will destroy the rings in a hurry.

I have the same system in my boat, and nothing is wired to them. I'm glad to find out what they are for... I was afraid if I shorted em, it would go off. : )<br /><br />bob in CO
