Today I got some junk mail from these people. They say that for $1 a month I will get handyman magazine. Along with that I will alos get the chance to test new products, tools books etc. write evaluations on the products and keep the products for free.

Anyone hear of this? Is it a ripoff? They claim a money back guarantee at any time.
Just wondering if anyone has heard of this and if it is a ripoff.

I have not heard of it.

I would join, if it was legit.

Another internet scam.

Come on people, let's get out from behind a computer screen and talk to each other.

They are legit.
They have a website if you want to check them out.
Just type handyman club in a search browser and you will find it.
I won't put a link on here, but they are out there.

I googled it and found the registration forms online. The stuff I got was US mail. Discussions on the net look like anything else, some like it some hate some won't even give it a chance.

I had it for a while, was not impressed with the magazine or the tools they sent. They do send out tools to test, just never got what they advertised, nothing but cheap junk was sent to me (all of it hit the trash can), some do get nice stuff. You have to apply for free stuff to test every month (at least while I had it) and do not qualify if you did not do the last evaluation. just my 2 cents.

I wasn't impressed with it either. They send me membership cards with my name on them all the time. I think because I have a bunch of woodworking subscriptions they think I want to join their club. You get a little sticker with a hammer on it and what I think is a cheezy mag.

wood and some other mags are much better in my opinion.

was a subscriber for a couple years. not the handy man division but they also have a fishing magazine out called north american fisherman. they to would send you fishing stuff to try then you wrote a review and got to keep the product. all i ever got was cheap stuff. but it was still fun. and the magazine was pretty good.

That's funny. We were looking at an open house yesterday and noticed "Handy" magazine on the shelf in the bathroom. I thought to myself that I need to remember that so I can look it up when I got home.. Of course, I forgot all about it until just now.

Thanks for the reminder!

Why would you pay money to test new tools. I used to do a lot of testing with mechanical and woodworking tools, and was paid to do so. just a thought. ;)

your paying for the magazine. like i said most of the stuff was very inexpensive. and the magazine was definatly worth a buck a month.
