Hard starting 125 force

My 125 force takes a long time to start lots of cranking . Any suggestions on what's wrong,or am I going about the wrong way,it's my first boat so I'm new to this.I push the key in while cranking to activate the choke,is it possible I'm flooding it? Once it's started and runs it fires up good all day. It's just that first start of the day that's ruff.i noticed my fuel lines between the carbs are covered with a film of fuil .is it possible I'm sucking air or something. It's not leaving puddles or anything ,just a film in the lines.

Start with the possibility of fouled plugs. Then go to the fuel recirculation system and check for Plugups.

Plugs were brand new. I'll look into recirculation system.thanx. Any chance I'm flooding it by holding the choke to long ?

are you advancing the throttle when trying to start it?

Not advancing throttle as I have to pull the throttle slightly back to get the neutral position in order to turn over.it won't turn over otherwise.

I had an 85 85 hp force that you could pull a knob out and advance the throttle in neutral to start it easier, otherwise it was a bear to start. can you post pics of your controls

if it has a primer bulb on fuel line you need to squeeze it couple times to prime----- throttle should pull out a little bit to be able to speed up -but it only alows a little more throttle-

Is that what that nob on the throttle control is I thought it was a different throttle control replacing original,I thought it was a choke that wasn't hooked up.cause it didn't do anything when I pulled it. Yes I always pump up the primer pump thing till its stiff.

pull it out and advance the throttle and it should start easier

Open fuel tank vent

Check the kill switch, place in "run" position

Squeeze fuel primer bulb till firm.

Advance the throttle 3/4 way, without putting it in gear. -- This is done by either pushing a button in the center of the controls -then pushing throttle forward, or pulling the shift handle toward the driver -then pushing the throttle forward, or raising the fast idle lever, all depending on what control unit you have.

Activate the choke by pushing in on the key. The choke is only activated while the key is being pushed in.

Turn the key to start while continuing to hold the key in.

Release the key and choke when it starts.

3-5 seconds of "choke", is usually enough.

Be ready to pull the throttle back toward the idle/neutral position, when the engine starts and the revs increase.

Continue to pull the throttle back as the engine warms up.

You should not have to use the choke much, if at all, once the engine has warmed up.

Engine should start within 10 seconds of turning the key.

Yes you can flood your motor easily if your holding the key in to long.
Prime up the primmer bulb until its good and firm, stop there. It should stay firm.
Now while turning key to start push in on key for the choke, and if it doesn't fire
Within a few seconds then release the key. Now try it without choking.
If it doesn't start up then repeat the above.
Possible you may need to replace the fuel lines you spoke of and use some hose clamps or zip ties.
By the way what year is your motor?
