Ok, a long time later - the puller and CDI stator i ordered from the US finally turned up!
I also had the carbs stripped cleaned and put back together with the needles in the correct place (sorry i find reply earlier racer one)
I used a battery impact gun to get the flywheel off and the little metal key was there so it couldn't spin freely so I'm guessing thats good. The only thing is the new stator is universal and only 2 of the bolt holes line up of the four - i did them tight and theres no play should that be ok? i then put it all back together.
I have some questions now (added to the above) i ordered a rectifier which i have got and I'm guessing the two yellow wires go one side and the battery positive goes the other side, however where do i ground the batter to? Also where does the rectifier sit? i have a workshop manual and whilst there a millions of pictures of it none are on the ob itself? Finally which side of the rectifier does the tach wire go the ac side or the dc side?
Any input would be great as usual!
