Cross reference Craig's List pictures with ebay pictures. You will find that many are identical. Usually the ebay ad is more times than not, legitimate while the Craigs List posting is a scam using ebay posted pictures.

I got the exact same response to a 26ft Sea Ray in Daytona about 2 weeks ago. It seemed to good to be true and it was the exact scam. I played along for a while and kept asking why my cash was no good if the boat was right here. They kept insisting on using that ebay thing. I kept calling them stupid and kept asking if they could read because I told them I would do cash only. Even with all my insults they kept replying to me. LOL. I finally got tired of playing and stopped responding.

I cant get over how stupid they are. DO they really get people to give them money that way?

So don't invite to your home, meet in a Very Public Place - The local PD's Parking Lot could be useful :)

+1. Last thing you need is someone knowing that you have a particular item they might want in your house.

Re: Has anyone seen this kind of post on Craigslist?

I was recently shopping for used cars on CL and came across several scams--even though they put at the top of the page ALL SHIPPED CAR SALES ARE SCAMS. But I looked into the Ebay transaction and found that Ebay has a secure and insured facility for selling cars--and if you think about it, Ebay being a national market is going to entail shipping, and they sell cars on Ebay. If you were going to pick up a car you bought on Ebay why would you pay through Ebay instead of paying the seller on the spot?

Sorry if i sounded stupid for asking.
Not stupid at all. Smart for asking!

You'd feel a whole lot more stupid posting about how you were scammed. ;)

-Thanks just tend to get replies that are pointing at the fact that im rather dim witted for considering it.. or that im too blind to see the scam. I appreciate peoples constructive input. Wise cracks and jabbs are easy.

"the stupid question is the one never asked"- some teacher in my life.

Anybody else getting a kick out of the OP's Screename . . . ?

-Are you referring to my play on fish, phish and music? or am i missing something..:D

It's all about getting your ad in front of as many potential buyers as possible, that's smart marketing...:p

The sad part is, that somebody, somewhere is going to give them some money.

Re: Has anyone seen this kind of post on Craigslist?

If I have time on my hands and/or am bored, I sometimes play with those turkeys by asking if they can ship their boat or vehicle to San Jose de Batuc, Sonora, Mexico (which is actually a small village in Sonora), and if it will pass Mexican emissions inspections (of which there ain't any).

Next, I ask if the engine comes equipped with a sodium based catalytic converter as required by Mexican law or an automatic throckmorton valve, etc. etc.

I keep asking more and more outrageous questions until they give up or I get tired.

One (supposed) woman finally said "I am getting angry because I think you are just playing with me" to which I replied "Yes I am, but, after all, you started it. Never heard from her (or him) again.
