Have an evinrude 70 that lost spark

Was on the water last weekend and she ran like a top. Go to start her back up and starts for 3 seconds then kills. Now I have no spark. I took a look at the cdi box and it’s 15 years old. How long do these things usually last?

I would not replace a CDI box by guessing.----They last a long time !!----Model # of your motor is ?-----Do you have a multimeter ?----Easy to check stator / kill circuit / sensor coils.

I’ve traced it down to regulator

I traced these steps. Whenever I unhook the rectifier, she starts right up and runs but if I hook it back up, she gets no spark. Model E70TLEDA

rectifier regulator.... more pricy.... you may be able to test your findings with a different AMAZON unit ....then decide for OEM $$$

Well boys I replaced regulators and still had issues. Come to find out I forgot to open gas can vent. Not a fun lesson learned after a 3 hour tow
